First, let s address your confusion. Universal and WDW are different entities altogether, so you ll need to visit both park s websites to sort things out (disneyworld.com universalorlando.com). Universal is 8 miles from WDW, so if you are planning on visiting both, you will probably need a car.
If you only have a couple days at Universal I would recommend stayen at one of their hotels so you can have the Privileg of skipping the long lines. If you don t want to drive to the parks at Disney you should stay at a Disney hotel. Myself, I try to plan 2 extra days at Disney besides the 4 days for each park that way I can go back and see things that were not on the priority list of do s the first time around.
If you are planning to stay in a Disney Resort-Hotel, there are perks and benefits to be enjoyed in the Disney World attractions. Take advantage of these, and keep inside WDW, don t go to Universal while you re staying at a Disney Resort-Hotel.Book a hotel outside of Disney World after you re finished at WDW ad then go to Universal Studios, and other non-Disney places, or maybe go there on a future trip.
hi mark, the universal parks are about a half hour drive away from Disney. Are you wanting to stay in a Disney hotel or just in the area, my advice if your staying in a disney hotel is to hire a car as transportation between the two will be quite expensive. if your staying off property then there are an abundance of centrally located hotels, if your not driving i would recommend staying on international drive, use the itrolley to get to the universal parks and choose a hotel that has free shuttles to the disney parks. you cand find out which ones have this on the hotels info. be sure to ask your travel agent to make sure they get you one with the disney shuttle if on international drive. if you stay anywhere else it will need to have both universal and disney shuttles. im a travel agent and go to florida almost every year, if you have any more questions feel free to message me :-)either way have fun and enjoy your holiday xx
If you are wanting to base your holiday at Walt Disney World you can travel by public transport to Universal but allow 60-90 mins. The Lynx bus number 50 travels from Walt Disney World to SeaWorld, change to Lynx number 8 (ask for a transfer ticket when boarding for one fare of $2) which will go up International Drive. If you get off at Wet n Wild, Universal is 15 minute walk away. You can also use the I Trolley which runs from SeaWorld to Wet n Wild. Many hotels offer shuttle buses to the parks but they can take a while as there are so many pick ups.I think you need to decide which theme parks are going to suit your group and then pick your area and hotel. My teenager prefers the roller coasters and we like to base our holiday in International Drive area which is ideal for Universal, Wet n Wild, SeaWorld and aquatica. If you have young children I would recommend hiring a car if you are traveling from Disney to Universal more than a couple of times ( about 30 min drive). Budget $14 per day for park parking.Check out this site for more infohttp://orlandorollercoaster.com/Have fun
stop in orlando and you can get shuttle buses to both places
