Do you know any great places to visit / things to do in vegas city, off the strip? -

i know a few shopping malls, was hoping for other suggestions. we are hiring a car for 2 days - spending one out of vegas , and want to explore vegas off the strip the other day. get to know the actual city / suburbs.

Drive west on Charleston (Sahara Hotel), about 10 miles from StripRed Rock Resort (fantastic buffet, movie theatre, bowling, casino) Join the players club and you get at least $3 in free/matching money on slotsRed Rock Canyon loop and visitor center Bonnie Springs RanchBonnie Springs Old NevadaDrive west on Charleston to Arville and take a right (north)Las Vegas Springs Preserve Fremont Street Experience

If you want to stay in the city, and suburbs, there are a few things to see:Freemont Street, in downtown Vegas. It has been converted into a pedestrian mall with a 90-foot high (30-meter) canopy providing shade from the hot desert sun.The Gardens At The Las Vegas Springs PreserveThis garden was earlier called the Desert Demonstration Gardens as 8 acres are desert botanical gardens. The entry is free of cost here. These gardens contain over 300 species of desert-compatible plants.Red Rocks National ParkThis national park is located 15 miles west of downtown.

There isn t much suburban Las Vegas, it s mostly urban (apartment complexes, strip malls, restaurants, gas stations) and then barren desert. For me the three most interesting cruises are 1. West on Charleston to visit the Red Rock casino and then Red Rock Canyon... here s a photo I shot of the canyon from an airplane http://www.urbanphotos.net/images/las_ve2. East on Fremont to see all the cheap dive motels and crackheads. http://www.urbanphotos.net/images/vegas_3. South on Las Vegas Blvd. until it turns into a dirt trail ... here are two photos I shot out there http://www.urbanphotos.net/end_of_Las_Ve

Town Square is pretty nice. it s right next to the airport. If you really want to get to know the city you re best bet is to explore Henderson and Green Valley. There s not much here in just Las Vegas besides the strip. You ll learn that most locals don t just stay only in LV. My family and I live right on the edge of LV and any kind of entertainment we look for is in Henderson.

go look at mansions in summerlin! or toilet paper wayne newtons house.right on the corner of sunset and pecos. or you can come hang out with me and my friends and go to the executive airport and watch celebrities

If you like the desert at all, I recommend Red Rock Canyon. Always take water when you hike, leave your travel plans with someone, etc., for safety s sake.
