Our kids love riding on excursion trains. For little kids it s a good balance of active and passive activity. My favorite of the ones we ve been on is Cass Scenic Railroad in West Virginia. Some other ones we ve been on are the Grand Canyon Railroad, Potomac Eagle, Strasburg, Gettysburg,.... Some of the ones that are on my to do list are the Western Maryland Scenic RR, Durango Silverton RR, Verde Canyon RR, and Boone Scenic Valley RR. There are a lot of them around the country so you should be able to find one nearby no matter where you are located.
How about destin Florida? It has the whitest sand in the U.S.A? plus the holiday inn that I stayed at had movies playing in the main room, has a party every day in the main room, has a 3-6 feet pool in the main room, a kids area on the second floor of the main room, it has free movie rentals at the hotel for night guests, free popcorn and ices for kids every hour or so.. Also it has an outdoor kitty pool, a big outdoor pool[3-12 feet] and the coolest beach Ive ever been to in my whole life. My room also had a beautiful view and you could hear the waves at night. If you don t believe all of this, that i would suggest looking it up on the internet. My kids had a blast, and cried when we had to leave.
San Diego is one of the nicest cities in the country. It s a major tourist destination and they know how to treat visitors right.Mission and Pacific Beach are your best bet for fun in the sun. Take a stroll on Prospect St and check out the shops, galleries, and have some authentic Mexican food and Alfonso s. Then head to the Birch Aquarium at The Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
