Your home. Serve cake. Give gifts. If you want to really go out there, take them to a movie.Worked for me when I was ten (in 1970).I don t understand the need to put on an ever increasing production every year to celebrate a kid s birthday. Is this some kind of competition?
Spanish/mexican landmarks or destinations in san francisco? -
Here are five suggestions: 1. The Clock Tower in front of the Main Ferry Terminal is modeled about the 12th century Giralda bell tower in Seville (BART and MUNI to Embarcadero Station).2. There s a statue of El Cid in front of the Palace of the Legion of the Honor in Lincoln Park. There are some examples of Spanish art inside as well, including the roof of a medieval church from Spain they literally ripped out and moved here (MUNI bus 18).3, The DeYoung Museum contains a large collection of pre-Hispanic art from Mexico. There s a statue of Don Quixote and Sancho nearby as well, but it is pretty hard to find (MUNI buses 5, 21, 44, 71 and streetcar N-Judah).4. The Presidio of San Francisco pre-dates the Americans. In fact, the Officers Club was built by the Spanish in the 1790s (MUNI buses 29 and 43). 5. Mission Dolores, constructed in 1776, was one of the first churches built in San Francisco. The surrounding neighborhood is still distinctly Latin and you ll find plenty of Mexican restaurants (BART to 16th Street Station; MUNI buses 22, 26, and streetcar J-Church).Bonuses - The column at the center of Union Square celebrates U.S. Admiral Dewey s victory over the Spanish fleet in the Philippines. Across the bay, the Oakland Museum of California has a ton of artifacts from the colonial period (BART to Lake Merritt Station).
Just Mission Dolores. The city was a backwater of just a few hundred people when it was Mexican. It was Americanized almost overnight during the gold rush.
