Student Wanting to Vist America? -

I want to vist America for a few months to see what its like then mabey consider staying for Uni or futher educationSee i dont know were to go what I want is a place were the people are friendly and sociable plenty teenagers and a night lifeI was thinking California but im told its far to expensive to live and is roughThanks for you help.

well im perfect to answer this. im 18 in california, im american. california is pretty expensive but you will have almost twice as much money coming over because of our horrible exchange rate. i live in southern california, im from orange county which i reallllly expensive. id suggest staying away from san francisco too. maybe try san diego, its where i live now, its not as expensive and its sunny about 363 days year and the beach is about 10 minutes away. people party alot here but as u know the drinking age is 21 but everyone does it anyways, just dont get caught. its not rough here haha, only compton and other parts of LA are pretty dangerous cuz of gangs. people move fast and are very competitive, they want the american dream right.lol i have family in portland, it sux, boring as hell, cold and rains all the time.

Portland Oregon is your answer. Good colleges, good weather year round, lots of friendly people and can be inexpensive if you watch where you live and how you spend your free time. How is drive from Yuma to Los Angeles? -

Anything I have to watch out? And What time is best for travelling and how many stops should i take in between? Is it a difficult drive?

There are two ways to get there.One is I-8 to San Diego, then I-5 to Los Angeles.The other is I-8 to El Centro, Ca 86/111 to Indio, and I-10 to Los Angeles.During my truck driving days we always used the second route because it avoided crossing the mountains between Ocotillo and La Mesa. There are several miles of a hard, steep grade. Both ways will take 4 - 4 1/2 hours roughly.

If you are driving on I-8 from Yuma to San Diego and then on to LA, I would recommend you stop and stretch your legs for five minutes every hour. It keeps you alert. The drive is super-interstate freeway all the way. The only challenge is going out of Ocotillo up into the mountains of CA towards Campo. Make sure your car is full of coolant and your oil is right.Otherwise it is an easy shot. Hit LA about 10:30 am. I ve been watching the traffic cams and that seems like the right time.

-Watch out for CHP. Tickets are expensive.-Stops? Maybe one in San Diego area.-It s not really hard. It s like the LA to Vegas run. A lot of desert, and not much else. At least when you get closer to San Diego, the drive gets interesting.

Stay in Chicago or go to LA? -

I am for Chicago and I was thinking about moving to LA with a friend should i stay or go.

CHICAGO! I used to live there, and I am in love with it, a lot more history. L.A. will be warmer but Chicago is much more worth it!

If you go make sure that you have a job lined up in LA or you will be back in Chicago very quickly. California, especially coastal California (Bay area, LA metro, SD, etc.) is very expensive. As a dude from the Chicago area, I would say stay in Chicago and make a few trips out to LA every year (preferably during the winter).

Given the current status of the governor s mansion in California, I d definitely stay put. This grossly incompetent icon has ruined the State.

Move to LA if you have been living in Chicago. If you don t like it here in LA move back. Trust me it s worth the experience!
