Not sure where you are staying but this really isnt the norm. Sounds like a two way mirror. I d call the desk and get an explanation.

All it is is a body length mirror to see yourself dressed fully and to make changes if needed.

Is Atlanta overrated? -

It depends on what you re talking about.Tis Good:Nature - you ve got trees for miles (where they haven t overdeveloped) and you can t beat the view of the city from Stone Mountain or Kennesaw MountainEntertainment - though the big venues tend to be overpriced, you ve got a variety of entertainment to pick fromTis Fair:Job Market - depends on who you talk to - half my peeps are employed; half are not. I haven t been out of work for the past 5 years, and last year, I made more money than I ve ever made in my life (with a start up internet company at that) and even sold some of my paintings for the first time. And the me from 5 years before that was struggling financially. The Weather - I ll take winters here than in the Northeast, but for the summers? ugh! waaay too hot, and I ve been here for 30 years.Tis Bad:Clubbing/social scene = loads o pretenders flashing clothes, jewelry and cars they can t affordPolitical environment = no progressive dialogue between the partiesSocioeconomic = plenty of segregation and elitism abounds, between blacks and whites and within each group (I m not as familiar with Asian, Latino, and other communities)Tis Really Bad:I wish I could go ONE day without seeing a confederate flag or bumper sticker on somebody s truck

Depends on what you are rating it on.Atlanta has all the issues any large city has. High crime, corrupt politicians and teerrible traffic.It also has all of the advantages any large city has including job opportunity, nice housing, entertainment, sports and cultural events. Living in the city of Atlanta sux. Living near Atlanta is great.

Excuuuuse me, I m from New York. As far as we re concerned, everything else is overrated. :-)I can tell you that in New York Atlanta is losing friends. People used to have many good words to say about Atlanta. But that standing stopped a few years ago. Nowadays Atlanta is not high on many New Yorkers lists.Sorry, that s the way it is.

I like the answer from the person from NYC. Too funny. but yeah, Atlanta is way overrated. I have lived here for 31 years and STILL cannot figure out why people come here on vacations. Summers are brutally hot, concerts are way overpriced, hotels are just ridiculous, as well as parking prices downtown and around the outskirts. Its no better or worse than any other big city - which is why I live in E. Cobb, Marietta. nice and quiet out here. :)

well i think nyc overrated people paying $10,000 + for a 1 bedroom apartment while down here thats a mansion!

People living in Portland Oregon, how do you like it? -

I have several states as Naturopathic Medical School choices, but I don t know which one to go to. The choices are Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, New Westminster, BC, Phoenix, AZ, Lombard, IL, Toronto, Canada, and Bridgeport, CT. I am from CA and only those states have Naturopathic Med Schools. I want to know if Portland is what it looks like in pictures. Is there a lot to do on free time? and is it safe? thank you.

It really depends what you re looking for and where you re coming from. If you want a large, diverse, cosmopolitan city, look to Toronto or Seattle over Portland. I disagree with the all walks of life comment made by the previous poster. She sounds like she s never lived in another city. Portland claims to be diverse, but it pales in comparison to other larger cities. I think Portland s biggest weakness is its closemindedness and distrust of outsiders. They are very insular here, but hide under a facade of being very liberal and openminded.If you are concerned about the rain or cold, Phoenix is obviously the other end of that spectrum. I find Phoenix to be totally boring, but if you want heat over wet and cool, then there you go.I can t speak for Bridgeport, Lombard, or New Westminster, but Portland has an edge over the others as far as affordability and being eco-friendly and family oriented. I think a young, single person might enjoy the Seattle or Toronto nightlife more, but Portland has a bit going for it here too. Not as much as the locals might think, but the downtown area is pretty happening.

First of all, I cannot compare Portland with the other cities/states you mentioned or wether one of them are a BETTER choice then the other... so with saying that I will just tell you from a Ptown lovers stand point that Portland is an awesome city (not sure what pics u have been looking at), beautiful in most parts, not so beautiful in others.The entertainment, dining, and shopping experiences are never ending, and there is a multitude of people from all walks of life here. Never a dull hour in this city... always somethin popping somewhere.Yes, LOTS TO DO on your free time...Safe? I would pick Portland over Phoenix for sure, as I have lived in both areas. Phoenix is simply mean. If you can deal with the Rain, then Portland is the greatest place. I think it is open minded, yes there is quite a bit to do here and the People are great. New West would be better than Seattle.
