What is there to do in Central Park during in January? -

My husband and I are visiting NYC over New Year s. We ve never been there before and would like to see Central Park, but what is there to do there in the wintertime besides ice skating? Are carriage rides available? Thanks for any suggestions.

You can walk the park, enjoy the scenery, horse carriage, Zoo, and skate at Wollman Rink. You can also enjoy the locals doing shows (skating, dancing, etc.) for tips.You should also go to Tavern of the Green. It s going to close for good so you should go before it does. Good food, good service and it looks really nice inside. Not that expensive.

You can golf with orange balls.You can do cross-country skiing.I like simply walking with a hot soft pretzel and hot chocolate from a street vendor, personally.

My vote would be Maine. Michigan at this time would be the worst, with the car companies in trouble and shutting down plants it would be financial suicide to move there right now. Maine has a nice laid back feeling to it, Wisconsin may have more job opportunities though, but making good money is not what brings happiness in life. Being able to enjoy life should not revolve on how much your pay check is, it should be around how much you can enjoy what is free to enjoy, a bird singing near your window in the morning, the cool mist of a morning fog, or being able to take a stroll in the middle of no where with no worries, that is what makes life enjoyable, not your pay check.

None of them. They are all cold. Trust me I live in a cold climate and it SUCKS! Big time. And those places are even colder than my home. Stay in nice sunny Australia. Or if you do come to the USA, I recommend Arizona (I m going there the first chance I get!) Florida is also nice

I would say Maine because that s where I m from, and its soo nice and the people are VERY kind and helpful. There is almost always good jobs, but anywhere in New England is good, accept Connecticut

All of these have good places to live and they all have awful job markets. Every place in the USA has a bad job market with few jobs. Washington DC and Texas are the least crummy places to try to find work.

Job opportunities are tough nation wide - greater than 10% unemployment. All 5 would be good places to live but if employment is an issue it will be tough.

Travel from Orange County to San Diego? -

I m driving home to north Orange County for Thanksgiving from downtown San Diego. I ve never driven from SD to OC on Thanksgiving and would like to know the best time to drive to hit the least amount of traffic. Any suggestions on travel time?THANKS!

Leave around 8 in the morning. I remember last year the traffic was horrendous in the afternoon. It was also bad on Thanksgiving night with people returning home after dinner.

For Thanksgiving? Traffic is going to be bad all day. See if you can take Amtrak. If you have to drive, leave as early as possible.
