Romantic trip to Galveston in April? -

I have been told that Galveston has not been rebuilt since the hurrican can anyone tell me anything?my husband and I are planning a trip in April to go to Moody Garden and maybe go over to the kemah boardwalk. And maybe spend sometime on the beach in Galveston. We want to get a motel in Galveston but have been told alot of stuff has not been rebuilt???

Most attractions in Galveston Kemah are now open.http://www.galveston.com/default.asphttp://www.moodygardens.com/http://www.kemahboardwalk.com/flash_cont

Almost everything on the Seawall is open. If you go down to The Strand which is the downtown area you will find some shops and cafes open but there is still a lot of rebuilding needed.

No offense, but there is nothing romantic about Galveston.

How Pricey is Massachusetts? -

correction I meant usual expenses, not usual expensive sorry for that confusion. Also, if you don t know, CoL = Cost of Living.

I do not have figures for all of the things you mentioned as some don t apply to me, but hopefully this will give you some idea. This is based on the Natick/Framingham/Sudbury/Wayland area using Natick property tax rates. Other than tax, water and sewer all other rates are about the same in this area.Tax on a $300K 1valuation home $3027 (Natick property tax rate of $11.09/1K). Home Insurance ~$600/yr Tax 2008 model car valued at $12K $1800Electricity ~ $150/mo ($1800/yr) assuming non electric heat no a/c2Cable/Phone/Internet (320+ mb/s dn/3.5+ mb/s up, Verizon FIos w/all premium ch.) ~$150/mo ($1800/yr)Gas heat hw balanced billing ~$150/mo ($1800/yr)Groceries for two $175/wk ($9100/yr) Assumes no alcoholic beverages.Mortgage not included (don t have one! :) ).Vehicle fuel cost not included (too variable).Vehicle insurance $1500 (2 vehicles, older models, clean driving records)Not sure about water/sewer, $0 if you have a well and a septic tank.1Valuation may not reflect market value and may be higher or lower.2Your choice of cable providers and services available varies by town and area. The most common are Verizon, Comcast and RCN. Rates are usually pretty close to each other.3Tested using http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ 5 minutes before this posting.Total for what I have values for. $19627 for a year.Hopefully this is at least some help to you. Good luck!
