I am going to be going to the Red Sox vs. Dodgers series in Boston from the 17th of June to the 20th of June in 2010. I m looking for some help on what hotels are near to the park and a nice place to stay at as well as some places to grab some brews with some fans!?!? I am a die hard dodger fan but don t think it will be a problem since we don t have anything against the Sox, except for Manny but I don t even like him, so any place would be fine. I guess 3 nights 4 days at a hotel near the park and I was planning on renting a car as well. I know it s kind of early but any help would be greatly appreciated. Been to Boston once when I was a kid and I really loved it out there and want to have a great time. Any pointer by any real BoSox fans would be great. I also wanted to know how the seating at the park was. Basically if you could tell me what has the best prices for the best views without going overboard on the price.
Boston is tiny compared to LA. Any of the Back Bay hotels are a nice walk to Fenway Park. As Hank said, there are a couple quite close in Kenmore Square, but you get a better selection of hotels if you add the West side of Back Bay. (Sheraton, Hilton, Marriott, Midtown, Westin, etc.) Which hotel depends on your wallet. There s NO need to rent a car. Don t do it. Real fans take the T. There s no place to park anyway. Your parking will cost more than your meals. You can get to any of the tourist areas on the T. Any hotel on the Green Line will get you to Kenmore faster than you could find a parking place. The airport is on the T. Even taking cabs everywhere will cost less that renting and parking a car. If you are going to the Cape or NH/Maine afterwards, wait until your last day to rent the car. Make sure you take the tour of Fenway Park. Everyone who visits me says it s a highlight of their trip. Fenway Park is surrounded by sports bars and pubs. Cask and Flagon, Boston Beer Works, Who s On First, Hard Rock Cafe, Game On, Boston Billiards, Jillian s, and the Bleacher Bar. Arrive a couple of hours before the game and wander until you find one you like. Now for Kman and Hank -- Fenway Park is neither downtown nor Back Bay. It s Fenway/Kenmore. In Boston, what tourists seem to consider downtown isn t at all what locals do. Tourist downtown is from Faneuil Hall to Mass Ave, encompassing Back Bay and Beacon Hill as well as the Waterfront, Theater and Financial Districts. Local Downtown is much much smaller.

Boston isn t L.A. - you neither need nor want a car if you re staying in the city. The subway / taxis / walking will get you everywhere.Fenway is right downtown. The best sports bars in the city are about 40 feet away from the stadium across the street. The North End has a lot of great authentic sports bars too. The Allston-Brighton does if too, provided you don t mind drinking with college students.Stay in the Fenway area or downtown by the Common. Walking distance to the green line.
Do you have your tickets yet? You should. The Red Sox have sold out every home game for years. All seats are expensive.There are 2 hotels within a 2 minute walk of Fenway Park (which, contrary to Kman s assertion, is NOT downtown - it isin uptown Back Bay)- the Commonwealth which is VERY expensive, and the Buckminster which is a renovated (nicely) older hotel much more reasonable. Practically across the street from Fenway s main entrance is The Boston Brew House - one of the best brewpubs in the USA (good food, too).
