Which hotels are good and inexpensive in las vegas? -

i am planning a weekend trip to vegas with 2 girlfriends...we are looking for an inexpensive, but nice hotel close to all the good things in vegas. i heard there is a part of the strip that is not good to stay on. which hotels are good???

You should avoid the north end of the strip - Stratoshpere in particular is near a seedy area, and Circus Circus and Sahara really aren t too hot either.The center-strip area is the best. Some nice, but reasonably priced, hotels there include Flamingo, Bally s, and Harrah s. Imperial Palace is also in that area, but it s pretty old and run down. But the rooms are clean enough if that s all you want. Can t beat the location.Farther south on the strip, still in a good location, are Excalibur and Tropicana. You can also often find good rates at NYNY and Luxor. Excalibur is probably your best chance in that area. It s a bit kid/family-oriented, but a pretty decent place.

Usually the northern mile is considered not good . That is The Stratosphere, The Sahara, The Riviera, and Circus Circus. These are the oldest resorts, and the neighborhood has a lot of empty lots. It s not really dangerous, but it is seedy. You can easily walk from Stratosphere to several wh@re houses, and to the sex club, the green door which is about to get it s own reality show on TV.------------------------Usually the standard compromise between inexpensive and convenient location is the five older Harrah s hotels 1) The Imperial Palace, 2) The Flamingo, 3) Harrah s, 4) Bill s Gaming Hall, and 5) Bally s. These hotels are safe, and conveniently located near much nicer casinos and nightclubs. They all have access to nice swimming pools. No glamor, but decent rooms. The cheapeast of the cheap is usually the Capri rooms at the Imperial Palace, but it is probably worth spending and extra $15 to stay away from them.

The area you were warned about is probably at the far northern end (like an ealier answer pointed out). That is where the Stratosphere is located. The Stratosphere itself is very nice and very reasonably priced but I would not recommend that women wander off the hotel property after dark. It is right next to some questionable areas. Excalibur usually has some nice deals and is not a bad location. It is actually pretty much at the other end of the strip. Most of the recommendations you got here are good. I would shy away from Hooters though. Nothing wrong with it at all but it is not a convenient location for walking to other hotels and attractions.

Inexpensive, nice, good location. Try Monte Carlo, New York-New York or Bally s.Monte Carlo is the most elegant, New York-New York the most fun, Bally s the best location.Weekends are much more expensive than weekdays. Imperial Palace is a nice, inexpensive hotel. It s also centrally located, near Ceasars Palace and Bellagio. I would advise against staying anywhere north of Riviera. Everything is a long walk away, and not the nicest neighbourhoods either.

Imperial Palace, it is the best price on the strip normally. It is located in the middle of the strip, so close to everything. I like them the best for the price location. How much time do you really spend in your room?? Now the strip is very safe. There are cops everywhere. Fremont Street is cleaned up now too. They did a great job. Anything on the strip is good. If it s on the strip it s either very good or it doesn t stay there for long. The part of the strip that you have heard about is way up at the northern end and that isn t really that bad. Go and have yourself a good time, you ll love Vegas.

It is best between the Encore and Mandalay Bay. Do not go north of there. Weekends are very expensive here and can take up a lot of your money. Staying Sunday through Thursday night can save you quite a bit.

Where can I park my moped for free in Waikiki in a garage/lot/etc? -

YES i am aware that you can techincally park your moped anywhere (on street signs, sidewalks, random alleyway)...but I am looking for legal, safe, free parking for my moped when I am at work. I work on the Waikiki strip on Kalakaua and am just wondering if anyone knows of any good places to park a moped.For example, I know the Sheraton hotel has a small area for free moped parking. Let me know if you know any other/secret spots!

LA vs San Fran. Which is the better city for life, work and play? -

I am moving... but still deciding between LA and San Fran.A bit of info: I am 27, female, straight, single, and just back from working for the China Travel Channel in Beijing as a Production Coordinator and looking to stay put for a minute, relocate, transfer my skills, live in and enjoy the states (i ve been in asia for 4 years!). I am leaving my family s house in AZ right after the holidays and hope to live somewhere that has a great creative, professional social scene. I have a friend in each of these cities, but they have completely different opinions of which place is a better move! Any comments or advice would be fantastic. Thanks so much for your time. Cheers!

I was about 27 when I moved to LA - single, female, straight. I was born in the San Francisco area and moved back here when I was about 50.I much prefer San Francisco. LA is very spread out and it seemed like all of my friends were an hour away. When I lived there, there was virtually no public transportation so you had to drive everywhere. I felt that there was much more emphasis on your looks, car, neighborhood, etc., than there is in San Francisco.The beach is more available in Los Angeles and there are likely to be more jobs in the entertainment industry. It is probably a complete toss up. Try the city that has a job for you and then move to the other one when you get a chance.Enjoy California!

For your type of work. I think LA is better and going out, however San Francisco traffic is not as hectic and crazy.. I lived in SF and would not move to LA, b/c I love it here more than LA. Life is more calmer and I can still go out and do things. If you ask me this question 10 years ago, when I was 20- I would have say LA.

The Bay Area Beats LA Any Day Been Living Here My Whole Life And I ve Visited LA A Few Times It s More Like A Touristy Place Than A Permanent Living Setting

Unless you are independently wealthy or have a Sugar Daddy, where you can find a job might decide where you live first. Good luck.Both places are good - but different kind of life (and clothes). Downside with LA area is the poor public transportation and terrible maze of freeways with heavy traffic almost around the clock. I worked in the Compton, Bell area of LA and was always told by the boss to keep car doors locked when out in the field or someone might jump in expecting to be given a lift. (Yes, it was something that did happen at that time)If you like it warm smoggy (then the LA area) but if you want it cold and sometimes foggy (depending on where you live in SF) go for SF.

I much prefer San Francisco. As a Bay Area native, I love everything about it here. The weather is fabulous, about 80s in the summer and 50-60s in the winter. Things are less spread out here, and being to LA aswell, I feel that the SF people are more friendly. And the nightlife here is fabulous. As for activities, there is always something to do on a boring weekend. Fishermans wharf, window shopping in union square, a ferry to alcatraz, the possibilities are endless! Also, we have BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) which is much like a Subway of the bay area. ALso, San Francisco isnt THAT big of a city, and there is the ever so great Bay area in your backyard, practically! So that means there s even more places to explore :o) But, with both cities you can t go wrong, and it is ultimately your choice. Whatever you do choose, enjoy California! :D

La has warm weather,but it has traffic everywhere. La is very spread out, so you need to own a car and drive. Activities galore in both LA and SF, so this is an even match. SF is air conditioned year round and rarely gets hot. LA gets hot. As far as beauty, I think SF is more beautiful, less spread out. I live north of SF and would never want to live in LA because it is just too busy and I hate the traffic. One more thing, I don t know if you love Asian culture, but SF has one of the biggest China towns in the USA.
