From which airport (Newark, JFK) is easier to get to Manhattan? -

Using subway or bus, I don t want to pay cabs. Thanks

It would really depend on where in Manhattan you are going. If you are going to midtown / Penn Station area, then Newark is closer. You can take the train form the airport to Penn Station New York and it take a little less than 45 minutes.From JFK you can take the AirTrain to the subway, which of course gets you wherever you want to be in Manhattan. The ride to Penn Station is longer, but it is also cheaper, plus if you were going uptown this would take less time.If you were going to the World Trade Center, then Newark would be faster, as you would take the train downtown to Newark Penn Station, and then take a PATH train to WTC (this ride is 22 minutes, plus however long it takes to get to Newark Penn Station). An even better, secret way would be to take the free shuttle provided by the Hilton Newark Penn Station, which is connected to Penn Station, from the airport and then take the PATH train in - this will cost you a grand total of $1.75.

I prefer Newark,especially to get into Manhattan.You can pay $15 to take the Airlink which monorails you from the airport to Newark s Penn Station. Then you get on the PATH train.I think it s about $15 to take a bus directly into Manhattan.
