Is San Francisco the most beautiful city in the world? -

I m italian but i used to live in San Francisco (now i live in Arcata),and i think SF is the most beautiful city in the world,people are friendly,the bay is one of the most wonderful place all over the world,and there is a magic athmosphere who make me feel so good (in Italy i ve always felt so wrong).All the blocks are so beautiful,Chinatown,Presidio,Castro,Nob Hill,Pacific Heights,Marina,ecc....in Milan (when i ve lived for 23 years) there aren t this beautiful places,blocks are urban and gritty (much much worse than The Tenderloin,who seems a residential area in comparison).Only the weather is not very well,and the car parking are so expensive!!!BUT......I LOVE SAN FRANCISCO!!!Do you agree that is the most beautiful city in the world?

Have you SEEN Havana? ;)Zurich, Damascus (Old Damascus, anyway), Marseilles, etc... Not to mention smaller/non-major cities , many of which are WAY more beautiful than any of the above!

Iv e Been to many parts of the U.S and world and seen all types of cities and countries but CALI has it all, S.F is nice, San Diego is nice too, visit Santa Barbara and you ll agree CALIFORNIA is King. When you mention your from the U.S to a Foreigner they say what part and if that part is not California they are not too interested.

San Francisco is certainly beautiful. But Milan, Paris, etc. are also very beautiful. Milan also has better dressed ppl. Much of the SF population (including women) wear black Old Navy hoodies, jeans and ski caps. Yuck.

I m not going to disagree... Saying that one city is more beautiful than any place else is totally subjective, but SF certainly IS beautiful, and much moreso than most other major cities.

Probably not the most beautiful in the world, but definitely the most beautiful in the USA!

Well, definitely SF can be captivating and a daily reward for someone who lives from the heart and who believes that aesthetics is an essential ingredient in determining quality of life. I have lived in SF for many years. Not now, as I am taking a much needed break from California. Two things you did not mention: 1) the general sense of respect for human beings, including those who are troubled or somehow disadvantaged. There are many people who are living on the margins and they are a daily presence. But iI think they know that being in SF is better than other places (such like LA, which can be a pretentious rat race).2) the atmospherics of SF s unique weather. I have always had a deep fascination with the fog as it can be strikingly beautiful in the most unexpected way. I have grown up and lived in SF Bay Area all my life and I admit, I doubt I will ever leave this area of California. Unfortunately, as the cost of living here rises, so does the pretentiousness of the residents! But speaking architecturally and weatherwise, it s a gorgeous place to visit and live. However, I also found Seattle to be so beautiful, but the weather from November-April is just so dark that I don t think I could live there. NY (Manhattan and surrounding areas) is also beautiful, diverse and full of energy. Also -- Boulder, Colorado is another beautiful place; very sunny even when there s snow! I think the most beautiful city in the world is the one where you feel most at peace.

Reagan to Dulles international, DC? -

Hi, I need to get from Reagan to Dulles tomorrow. How do I get there by public transit. And, if I decide to take a cab, how much would it cost me?Thanks

A cab will be about $50 and is the fastest way.If you have enough time, you can walk to the airport metro station, take an inbound Blue line train to Rosslyn, and take the 5A bus to Dulles, or at Rosslyn change to the Orange line train going the other way to the West Falls Church stop, where you catch the Flyer bus to Dulles. In the afternoon both buses run about every half hour. The 5A is likely to be faster unless the traffic on I-66 is unusually bad.

Take the super shuttle. Its not as expensive as a cab and not as much hassle as trying to get the washington flyer. You can catch the super shuttle near the baggage claim at reagan.

I been googling New york and stuff and ive gotten hell confused...Is washignton park (central NY, Albany Metro) in Manhattan? Cos its near Maddison Ave but Central park is near Maddison Ave and ive looked on all maps and they dont seem to join up?Is Central NY, Albany Metro, like in the middle of the city itself?Im from Autralia so its all real confusing. :S

The maps do not join up because they are maps of different cities.In the U.S., there are many places with the same names as each other.This is especially true of places named for Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Kennedy, who were especially famous Presidents of the U.S.Manhattan is in New York City. Albany and New York City are over 100 miles apart. They each have a Madison Avenue and they each have a Washington Park. Neither Washington Park is in Greenwich Village. The park in Greenwich Village is Washington Square Park.Albany and Manhattan each have a Madison Avenue. These are not the same Madison Avenue. These are two different Madison Avenues.Washington Park in Albany is near the Madison Avenue that is in Albany. This Washington Park and this Madison Avenue are not near Manhattan.Central Park in Manhattan is near the Madison Avenue that is in Manhattan.The park that is a landmark in the Manhattan neighborhood of Greenwich Village is Washington Square Park, not Washington Park. Albany is over 100 miles north of New York City. Washington Square Park is located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan. This is also the neighborhood where New York University is located. The park is small, therefore it does not shop on most NYC maps.Good luckNative New Yorker
