I have booked a vacation to Disney World in Orlando Florida - I am very excited. My daughter is only 1 1/2 years old and I know that she is VERY Young for Disney, but I am hoping to get an advice as to rides or certain things we can do with her.. She is soo full of life runs around everywhere and understands quite a lot already, I know she will have fun at Disney. Any other options for FLorida ?? We are travelling in January and thinking of doing Sea World as well??Please note ** I realize she is YOUNG To fully enjoy disney, but we wanted a happy vacation, and it s already booked.. thanks
well first i think you need to understand that she is NOT too young to fully enjoy disney world. that is a huge miss conception. disney world is for all ages from babies to senior citizens. there are not many things she can t do. there are only about 12 rides in all of the 4 parks put together that require her to be a minimum height. with that said she will be able to do the most at magic kingdom. just an example of what she can do is:-dumbo-its a small world-peter pan s flight-winnie the pooh-snow white s scary adventure-mickey s philharmagic-haunted mansion-jungle cruise-carousel of progress-monster inc laugh floor-tomorrowland transit authority-enchanted tiki room-pirates of the Caribbean (which happened to be my 16 month old niece s favorite ride)-meet and greet with the characters-parades-fireworks displayand thats not all!!!and there are many things for her to go on and do at the other 3 disney world parks as well. seaworld would be ok . its mostly just shows which are obviously entertaining but can become somewhat long for kids her age. and they have an area where you can pet dolphins and another area where you can pet sting rays.**edit** lisa s said that snow white s scary adventure may be too frightening for a 1.5yr old but my niece (16months old at the time) was perfectly fine with it so i would say that its different from child to child and you won t know what your child is and is not afraid of unless you take them on it once. we figured my niece would HATE pirates of the caribbean cuz its dark and has a small drop and at one point there are cannons going off but it was absolutely her favorite ride out of everything she went on at each park and went on it multiple times and would cry to go on again.
Sea world is really good, you may like Epcot park as well . There will be too many rides you will miss because of the infant but it is worth it. I m sure she will enjoy it. Make sure to be prepare for the cold weather.
Don t listen to the people who say your little one is too young for Disney! I ve taken my three year old granddaughter three times already! She doesn t remember the first time, when she was six months old, but she most certainly did remember the second time, when she was just the age your daughter is now. She couldn t wait for the third trip, because of her memories of her second trip! Those little ones always remember more than we think!As to which rides are too scary , it depends on the child! My own intrepid little Disney-lover wasn t scared of anything she saw, and we went on every ride except for the coasters. I, personally, don t ride scary rides like roller coasters, Tower of Terror, etc., so if I didn t ride, neither did she, and we never had a problem. My guideline was, if there were signs warning against people with certain conditions taking a particular ride, my granddaughter and I avoided it. We spent our time people-watching, and waiting for grandpa and my older grandson to get off the ride!As to other options in Florida, if you are renting a car, look into Florida s many state parks. All are beautiful, and most have something very interesting to see and learn. One of our favorites is Manatee Springs.Have a wonderful trip!
I m going to have to disagree with the previous answer. Some of the rides she suggested may be way too frightening for a 1 1/2 year old - snow whites scary adventure for example. But having said that, I still think you will have a great time. It s a small world is so cute for young ones. There is also a train that runs throughout the park. Dumbo is fun - but I find that the line for that is always so long. They have a carousel that of course is fun for young kids. The parades are great - try to get a seat a little early for them - it tends to be very hard to find a good place to see it. They have a restaurant that we ate at a few times that has characters - The Crystal Palace - has winnie the pooh, tiger. It s buffet style, with separate buffet foods for kids.We went to Disney 2x in January. The first time the weather was gorgeous - 70 s and sunny. The 2nd time we went it was freezing - we had to buy gloves! So I would just check the weather prior to your visit.Haven t been in Sea World so I can t give you any opinions on it.Have a great trip!
