In the middle of recession, where to move - NYC OR San Francisco ? -

I m thinking of moving to San Francisco but everyone says it s extremely EXPENSIVE! I m a Sales/Marketing executive worked for Software, Entertainment Advertising industry. In this deep recession which giant would be easier for employment and start up costs? I like good looking people, nice weather, clean city and low crime rate. Any advice is more then Welcome :)Thanks Everyone!

Both are extremely expensive cities. SF is more environmentally friendly than NYC. NYC has better public transportation. SF has nicer weather longer. NYC has better restaurants, night life and culture IMO. I lived in NYC for 3 years and now I live outside of the SF bay. I miss NYC like crazy. I think NYC is more romantic and more of what I picture a city to be. However, SF does have access to beaches, national parks, hiking, and Napa Valley ;-) I would think more about what you like to do in your spare time as both are going to have pretty equal employment opportunities. SF is more tech focused it seems but there is more entertainment and Ad sales in NYC. Good luck

SF and NYC are the two MOST expensive cities in the US. So unless you ve got a lot of savings and/or a well paid job lined up don t move either place.Given you career you might also want to consider LA, lower cost of living, lots of good looking people, great weather, and certain parts of the LA Metro area are low crime and clean.

NO!! jobs are really hard to get.. I agree with the other s answer. SF, NYC are the worst to move to right now.. It s expensive and the jobs are too great. Companies are laying off people like crazy! Maybe Seattle would be cheaper to live and the crime rate is mich lower there than SF and NYC.

I am Flying from Denver to Lagurdia. I want to take the Subway to Midtown Manhattan.? -

What Subway do i take?Where does it meet?Where does it meet in relation to Lagurdia?How long does it take?

From mid town, go to the Port Authority Bus TErminal. Airport Express. There is a bus to LGA. IT is one hour by bus, do not know the cost. It is very convenient and reliable. The terminal used to be on ground level. I worked for public transit but now live in Nevada. You can link on PABT.com and get the information.

The problem with LGA is that there is no subway from there to Midtown. You can take the bus that goes there to the subway. Any city bus that goes to LGA connects to the subway at some point, namely the 7 to Times Square and the Port Authority, both in Midtown. You will see signs in the terminal for City buses.However, for more options other than the 7, the Q19B, Q33, Q45, and Q47 buses go to 74 Street-Broadway for the 7,E,F,R,V, and G (which doesnt go into Manhattan) subway lines.If you tell me where exactly in Midtown you are going, I can tell you the best route. The subway is $2.25 one way which is the same price for a local bus fare. If you hop on an express bus, expect to pay $5.50. You can also take a taxi to your exact location for a flat fare, I believe $45 unless that changed with the new taxi fare hike.

First of all, there is no direct subway connection from LGA to Midtown, Manhattan. Therefore, you will need to take a bus from the terminals to either the Astoria Blvd or the Roosevelt Avenue subway station.Now, what part of Midtown your going? Before you head downstairs to the baggage area and the terminal exitstop in a Hudson Newsstand and buy a $4.50 MetroCardExit the terminal on the Lower Level Take the M-60 bus one stop out of LGA to the Astoria Blvd subway Go to the side of 31st St that is the farthest away from LGAClimb a couple of flights of stairs and catch the Downtown N/W train to Times Square .........and the worldI know that somebody is going to suggest taking the Q-33 to the # 7 train in Jackson HeightsThe problem is that the Q-33 is a crowded slow local bus and it more than a little likely that you would get to TS on the M-60+N/W before you reached 74th St Jackson Heights/#7 train on the Q-33FYI:NYC buses take CHANGE or MetroCards But not bills

Go to the airport s website, click on Ground Transportation for your options. The SuperShuttle shared van is good, if it goes from LGA.
