I don t know the distance, but you can catch more frequent trains to New York, and Newark Airport better serves Hamilton.Hamilton tends to go for the Phillies, Flyers, etc.Hamilton is more covered by Philly TV (3 6 10)

Can anyone help me as I look for a name and some info on what I think is a former casino or club in Michigan? -

I live in Oakland County Michigan and I remember hearing on the radio the radio hosts mentioning some casino or club that was once around that area I believe. They said that Frank Sinatra played there, and that it had burned down sometime after he had played there. This is what I think was said about it but I can t find anything about it online. If anyone could help me with this club or casino caper, that d be great. Oh and just to tell ya, I m a 19 year old who s just curious and wants to know things! Thanks!

What you are referring to was called the Walled Lake Casino. It was not a gambling casino, but rather an entertainment venue where a all the Big bands played. The Walled Lake casino was part of a larger complex that had various rides like a roller coaster, carousel and small mid-way. Picture a very small Cedar Point or Six-Flags.In the 1960 s the casino moved into teen music with Chuck Berry, all the Motown acts and I believe a very young Bob Seger. I bet they were talking about the Elmwood Casino in Windsor, Ontario. This was a huge entertainment venue/supper club in the era of the 40 s through 70 s (and was not a casino in the sense that we know it today - no gambling). All the major stars of the era performed there and it s very likely Frank Sinatra in his early days was one of them. They had everyone from Sammy Davis, Jr., Tom Jones, to Liza Minelli and motown acts.There was a fire there in 1943 which caused $50,000 in damage, which in those days would have been major. It s very possible that Sinatra performed there prior to that.The Elmwood (building) is now a substance abuse rehab facility.
